JTB Architects is an award winning, NZIA registered practice. Our team work from studios in Auckland, Nelson, Christchurch, Wānaka and Wellington, combining understanding of site, communities and context with depth of experience across our team nationally.
Our practice started in Nelson as David Jerram Architects in 1986. David quickly grew a reputation for providing personalised service to every client, absolute integrity and commitment to design excellence. The practice grew steadily from there, and in 2004 John Tocker joined David to help lead the business. In 2005, Marc Barron joined the practice after relocating to New Zealand from the UK.
Aligning around David’s original values, and a shared interest in low-energy, environmentally sustainable design, they went on to form Jerram Tocker Barron Architects together. Early on, the practice pioneered the use of structural mass timber technologies including CLT, LVL and Potius in New Zealand, working closely with producers linked to the Nelson Tasman forestry region.
Today, we work across Architecture, Urban Design, and Master Planning from five studios around New Zealand. Specialists in Interior Design, Building Information Management (BIM), and Architectural Visualisation support our architectural team to provide comprehensive services to each project.
